Gusty Showers Bring 45-50 MPH Winds to Hendry, Collier, Broward, Miami-Dade

A Special Weather Statement has been issued for Hendry, Collier, Broward, Miami-Dade, and Monroe counties due to gusty showers with winds up to 50 mph, effective until 10:45 AM EDT.

Residents in Hendry, Inland Palm Beach, Coastal Collier, Inland Collier, Inland Broward, Metro Broward, Inland Miami-Dade, and Mainland Monroe counties should seek shelter immediately due to a Special Weather Statement issued by the National Weather Service Miami FL.

Gusty showers are moving west at 35 mph, with radar indicating wind gusts of 45 to 50 mph. This alert is effective until 10:45 AM EDT today, October 1, 2026. The showers are currently located along a line extending from 9 miles north of Intersection I-75 And U.S. 27 to 7 miles east of Chokoloskee.

The primary hazard is strong winds that could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include Marco Island, Everglades City, Weston, and areas along Alligator Alley. These winds can down small tree limbs and branches, and blow around unsecured small objects. Seek shelter in a safe building until the storm passes.
