A Special Weather Statement has been issued for parts of Knox and North Sevier counties until 6:30 PM EDT today, September 20, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) Morristown has identified a strong thunderstorm with potential wind gusts up to 40 mph.
As of 5:41 PM EDT, Doppler radar tracked this storm 9 miles northeast of Knoxville, moving southeast at 10 mph. The NWS advises that gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.
If you are outdoors in the affected areas, including Knoxville, Sevierville, Maloneyville, Mascot, Kodak, Kimberlin Heights, House Mountain State Park, and Seymour, consider seeking shelter inside a building for your safety. This statement is effective immediately and expires at 6:30 PM EDT.
