Residents and visitors in Aransas, Kleberg, Nueces, and Calhoun Islands are advised of a High Rip Current Risk and a Coastal Flood Advisory. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Corpus Christi TX issued this alert at 11:56 PM CDT on October 9, 2026. The Rip Current Statement is effective until 7:00 AM CDT on October 11, 2026, while the Coastal Flood Advisory is in effect until 1:00 AM CDT on October 13, 2026.

Dangerous rip currents are expected. These currents can sweep even experienced swimmers into deeper water, posing a life-threatening risk. Minor coastal flooding is also anticipated, which may lead to the flooding of lots, parks, and roads, with isolated road closures possible.

For those who must travel, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Property owners in flood-prone areas should take necessary actions to protect their property.

For beachgoers, the NWS advises swimming near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and float. Do not swim against the current. If able, swim parallel to the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
