While these diets are generally safe, Purina has identified that some bags of this food may contain elevated levels of Vitamin D, which can be harmful to pets. To determine if your product is affected: Check the product information: The recalled product is Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets EL Elemental dry dog food. This product is available through veterinary clinics and retailers with a veterinarian prescription. Look for the lot code and production code: Check the production code and lot code on your bag. (The lot code is located on the back of the bag.) If you have a bag with one of the following lot codes and production codes, discontinue feeding it to your pet and contact Purina at 1-800-345-5678 for further instructions.
