Kenai Peninsula Schools Move to Remote Learning
Staff Writer
June 12, 2026
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District shifted all Central Peninsula schools to remote learning Wednesday, October 14, citing a rise in COVID-19 cases in the region.
The closure affects schools in Nikiski, Kenai, Soldotna, Kalifornsky Beach Elementary and Sterling Elementary. School principals will provide families with details on the transition and remote learning expectations.
District officials made the decision after consulting with local health officials. The district said it plans to return to in-person instruction when conditions allow.
