Wind Advisory Issued: Gusts Up to 50 MPH Expected Today

Residents in Webster, Clay, Lowndes, Choctaw, Oktibbeha, Winston, Noxubee, Neshoba, Kemper, Newton, Lauderdale, Jasper, Clarke, Jones, and Forrest counties should secure outdoor objects and exercise caution while driving today, October 10. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, MS, has issued a Wind Advisory effective from 1 AM CDT to 7 PM CDT today.
North winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. Gusts as high as 50 mph are possible. These strong winds may make driving difficult, particularly for high-profile vehicles. The NWS warns that tree limbs could be blown down, and isolated power outages may occur.
This advisory applies to portions of central and south Mississippi. Utilize extra caution if you must travel. Secure any loose items outside your home or business to prevent them from becoming projectiles.
