Box 716 116 East Washington Street, Suite 100 Charles Town, WV 25414 Office of Engineering: 304-728-3257 Office of Building Permits & Inspections: 304-725-2998 Office of Code Enforcement & Floodplain Management: 304-728-3257 Office of Impact Fees: 304-728-3331 Hours: Monday-Friday 9:00am-5:00pm (No building permits will be taken in after 4:30pm) Fax: 304-728-3953 Email: [email protected] The Office of Engineering is responsible for the engineering review of subdivision plats and commercial/industrial site plans for compliance with the Subdivision Ordinance, Floodplain Ordinance and the Improvement Location Permit Ordinance. The Office of Engineering administers the land development bonding policy and performs inspections of land development projects. In addition, the Office of Engineering Department is responsible for the administration of the Property Safety Ordinance. The Office of Engineering is also responsible for managing engineering studies such as the: Mountain Community Water System Study, Westridge Hills Subdivision Test Wells Project, County-wide Groundwater Budget Study; and managing construction projects and drafting ordinances. Notice of Fee Increase To All Builders, Contractors, Engineers, Architects, Developers and Homeowners: As directed by the Jefferson County Commission, the permit fees will increase on July 1, 2018. Permit fees have been increased one time since 2001. The fee schedules have now been adjusted for inflation based on a 2% inflation rate. The new fee schedules will apply to any permit application received after the close of business on Friday, June 29th. The Fee Schedules will be updated Friday afternoon, June 29th, on the Department of Engineering, Planning & Zoning web page. In addition, all permit applications have been revised to reflect the new fee schedules and to eliminate unnecessary information. The new fee schedules will be posted on the Department of Engineering, Planning & Zoning web page on Friday afternoon, June 29th. Hard copies of the fee schedules and permit applications will be available on Monday, July 2nd, in the Office of Building Permits & Inspections. Office of Code Enforcement & Floodplain Management Contact Information: Office of Engineering: 304-728-3257 Email: [email protected] Hours: 9:00am-5:00pm Monday-Friday The Ordinance Compliance Officer investigates complaints and issues violation notices for the violations of the Improvement Location Permit Ordinance, Floodplain Ordinance, Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision Ordinance, and the Salvage Yard Ordinance. Complaints shall be submitted in writing (no anonymous complaints will be accepted) on the appropriate form that is available from the Ordinance Compliance Officer. Jefferson County's adoption of the Floodplain Ordinance makes it possible for residents of Jefferson County to obtain flood insurance under the FEMA flood insurance program. The Engineering Department administers the Floodplain Ordinance which requires that any structures and/or the subdivision of land located in the flood hazard areas of Jefferson County comply with the regulations. The floodplain manager provides floodplain delineation determinations and base flood elevation determinations, reviews Letter of Map Amendment (LOMA) and Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) submissions, and maintains the floodplain maps for Jefferson County.
