BUILDING DEPARTMENT INFORMATION The Building Department is a part of the Planning and Zoning Department. It protects the public through building code enforcement, which includes a thorough review and inspection process, and providing code-related information to applicants and the community. For example, anything having to do with structural, electrical, plumbing or foundations. A licensed general contractor may have to oversee the project, and additional subcontractors may be required for electrical, plumbing, or HVAC installations. It is the homeowner or property owner's responsibility to provide acceptable plans or information to obtain a permit for: - All new residential buildings - Electrical reconnections, service increases, panel replacement or repair - Water heater installation (including replacements) - Gas line pressure tests (new or replacement lines) - Furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioners, or evaporative coolers (new only). Note: load and sizing calculations are required for new and replacement HVAC equipment - Walls and fences. Note: walls and fences over 6-feet tall will require a structurally engineered design - Metal, and some pre-assembled buildings, require stamped engineered plans - Detached accessory structures - Porches, additions, or garages - Remodeling existing structures, that include plumbing, electrical, foundation, or structural changes - Demolishing existing structures The building department will review plans or applications submitted, but the department cannot design the plans for an applicant. If an applicant needs assistance in designing a plan, they will need to contact a design professional. Please note that all plans submitted will need to conform to the current Town building code. For property development standards please contact the Planning and Zoning Department. Rental units are considered commercial property, and all commercial permits will require a commercial licensed contractor. WORK THAT HAS ALREADY BEEN COMPLETED WITHOUT A PERMIT It is possible to obtain a permit for work that has already occurred; however the permit application requirements will remain the same. Depending on circumstances, and according to Town Code, the applicant may also be charged double the original permit fee for doing the work without first obtaining a building permit. BUILDING SAFETY: CLIMATE AND GEOGRAPHICAL INFORMATION Below is a link to a document which contains the building safety standards for the Town including requirements for snow loads, frost depth, and wind speeds. REVIEW PROCEDURE The building department shall have ten (10) working days from submission of the plan to application to approve, conditionally approve, or deny said plan or application based on its compliance, and to notify of the decision either verbally or in writing. The building department may choose to obtain the opinion of the Planning and Zoning Commission; in which case a decision must be rendered within five (5) days of the Commission review, the decision set forth in detail, the reasons for denial, or in the event of a conditional approval, the changes or additions which are necessary to make the plan acceptable. EXPIRATION Six (6) months from the date of approval, a plan or application becomes void if a permit has not been issued. An extension of approval may be granted if the applicant files for an extension period prior to the expiration of the permit and the extension is granted. INSPECTIONS Please contact the Building Department a minimum of twenty-four (24) hours in advance to schedule an inspection for your project. Heritage Center The Springerville Heritage Center Located in the heart of Main Street, Springerville's historic school building holds artifacts and stories from the communities of Round Valley inside. The Casa Malpais Archeological Museum, The Renee Cushman Museum, The Becker Family History Museum and the White Mountain Historical Society Museum are all housed in one unique location. The Becker Family Collection Correspondence, photographs, legal documents, and financial records chiefly documenting the Becker Mercantile Company and other businesses of the Becker family as well as documents relating to the family's interests in the development of Apache County, Arizona. The White Mountain Historical Society Displays commonly used household items and tools from 1870-1940. Ten rooms are dedicated to the people and towns of the White Mountain area, with highlights including a wooden aquaduct, telephone switchboard, blacksmith shop and jail cell.

Town Of Eagar - Community Information and Attractions

Town Of Eagar Location Eagar is located in southern Apache County, just north of Apache National Forest and at the foot of the White Mountains. Sunrise Park, the largest ski resort in Arizona, is located 25 miles (40 km) west of Eagar. Patriotic Eagar and Springerville host one of the greatest 4th of July Parades. We have even been featured in the New York Times. After the Parade you can go to the rodeo that has been going for more than 100 years. Our fireworks show to end the day is put on by our local fire department and it's in our opinion the best on the mountain. Round Valley Dome It is the only domed high school football stadium in the United States. Opened in 1991–92 at a cost of US $11 million, the venue seats 5,500 people for football and 9,000 for basketball and volleyball. The dome encloses a floor area of 189,000 square feet.

Springerville Municipal Airport The Springerville Municipal Airport is only two minutes from historic downtown Springerville. Springerville is a quaint mountain town known as the Gateway to the White Mountains which developed around the logging industry. The downtown area offers a variety of stores and boutiques, along with dining establishments featuring some of the best food on the mountain. Our summer visitors will enjoy hiking, camping, cycling, fishing and just about anything you can think of to do outdoors. The Apache-Sitgreaves National Forest is our playground with over 2 million acres of mountain country located in east-central Arizona. Our winter activities include skiing at nearby Sunrise Park Ski Resort, ice fishing, hunting or visiting our nearby mountain resort towns of Greer, Alpine and Nutrioso, which hold festivals and events throughout the year.
