Requires the ability to travel. Requires the ability to perform physical activities, including lifting, bending, and stooping. Requires the ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions. Requires the ability to use a computer and various software programs. PREFERENCE WILL BE GIVEN TO CANDIDATES WHO HAVE: Experience in agricultural or horticultural practices. Experience in plant identification and pest control. Experience in regulatory or compliance work. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Knowledge of agricultural or horticultural practices. Knowledge of plant identification and pest control. Ability to interpret and apply laws, rules, and regulations. Ability to conduct inspections and investigations. Ability to collect and analyze data. Ability to prepare reports and correspondence. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to use a computer and various software programs. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Conducts inspections of agricultural establishments to ensure compliance with laws, rules, and regulations. Collects samples of plants, pests, and soil for analysis. Investigates complaints of alleged violations of laws, rules, and regulations. Prepares reports of inspections and investigations. Provides technical assistance to agricultural producers and the public. Participates in educational and outreach activities. Performs other duties as assigned. DESCRIPTION OF POSITION: This is a professional position responsible for performing technical work in the Division of Licensing.
