Isaias Threatens Panhandle with Showers & Storms

Jacksonville residents can expect scattered showers and isolated storms Saturday as Hurricane Isaias nears the Panhandle. The storm, tracking into the Northern Gulf, is forecast to intensify before making landfall between 7 and 9 p.m. today near Pensacola and Mobile.
The National Weather Service predicts cloudy conditions with scattered showers and isolated storms for Jacksonville today. Breezy conditions may cause gusts near the St. Johns River. The high temperature will be 82 degrees. Tonight, skies remain cloudy with showers, and the low will be 74 degrees. An isolated strong storm is possible this evening.
Saturday's forecast calls for cloudy, humid conditions with scattered showers and heavy storms. The chance of strong storms remains, with an isolated tornado threat possible west of I-95. The high will be 86 degrees, with a low of 74. Sunday brings partly cloudy skies and breezy conditions with scattered showers and storms. The high is 88 degrees, with a low of 75.
A high risk of rip currents extends along the coast from Hanna Park to Ponte Vedra Beach. Expect surf of 3-5 feet, which could contribute to beach erosion. Higher tides are anticipated due to the approaching new moon combined with onshore winds.
Weather is expected to improve early next week. Monday will be mostly sunny with lower humidity, a high of 87 degrees and a low of 63. Tuesday forecasts sunny skies and low humidity, with a high of 84 and a low of 60. Wednesday will be mostly sunny with a high of 87 and a low of 60.
