Clay High Student Arrested for Roblox Shooting Threat

A 14-year-old Clay High School student was arrested Wednesday for allegedly making a mass shooting threat on the online gaming platform Roblox, according to the Green Cove Springs Police Department.

The FBI alerted local authorities after receiving a tip through its Guardian (Threat-to-Life) system about a Roblox user threatening a mass shooting at Clay High School. Investigators identified the user as a 14-year-old student residing within Green Cove Springs.

The Green Cove Springs Police Department investigated and arrested the student. The teenager was transported to the Duval Regional Juvenile Detention Center. The student faces charges for written or electronic threats to kill, do bodily injury, or conduct a mass shooting or act of terrorism, under statute 836.10(2).

Both the Green Cove Springs Police Department and the Clay County School District stated they take all threats involving schools seriously and will not tolerate acts of violence. The Clay County Sheriff’s Office announced extra deputies would be present at Clay High School on Thursday.
