A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Marianna, effective immediately, with severe wind, flood, and tornado threats requiring urgent action and preparations for potential damage and evacuations.
JACKSON, FL – The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Marianna, effective immediately, October 9, 2026, at 5:05 PM EDT. This warning remains in effect until October 10, 2026, at 1:15 AM UTC.
Residents in Marianna should immediately move to safe shelter as hazardous winds are anticipated. Peak wind gusts could reach up to 60 mph, posing a risk of damage to property such as porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes. Expect downed tree limbs, potential road closures due to debris, and scattered power and communications outages. All remaining efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible.
A Flood Watch is also in effect for Marianna, with an additional 2-4 inches of rainfall expected, and locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to extensive flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could enter numerous structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
Furthermore, a Tornado Watch is in effect, indicating a very favorable situation for numerous tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats are urged to relocate to safe shelter before hazardous weather arrives. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Tornadoes could cause widespread damage, power loss, and communications failures.
