Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Jackson County; Act Now
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Jackson County, including Marianna, with immediate action required due to hazardous winds, major flooding potential, and an increased threat of numerous tornadoes.
JACKSON COUNTY – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Jackson County, including Marianna, effective immediately, October 9, 2026, at 11:05 AM EDT, and expiring at 7:15 PM UTC. Residents should complete all preparations now as hazardous conditions are expected.
The National Weather Service in Tallahassee, FL, reports peak wind gusts of 15-25 mph, with potential for gusts up to 45 mph. Damage to unanchored mobile homes, sheds, and large tree limbs is possible, potentially leading to scattered power outages and impassable roads due to debris.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain forecast, and locally higher amounts possible. This could lead to major flooding, prompting evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Heed all flood watches and warnings immediately.
The threat of tornadoes has increased, with the situation highly favorable for numerous tornadoes, some potentially intense. Emergency plans must account for widespread tornado damage. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued.
