Tropical Storm Warning for Jackson County: Act Now
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Jackson County, including Marianna, until 4:15 PM EDT today, with risks of hazardous winds, major flooding, and several tornadoes; residents should act now to prepare and secure property.
JACKSON COUNTY, FL – A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Jackson County, including Marianna, effective immediately, October 8, 2026, at 8:01 AM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This warning remains in effect until 4:15 PM EDT today.
Residents should act now to complete all preparations before hazardous winds begin. The NWS forecasts peak winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Prepare for limited wind damage, including unsecured objects blowing around, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Major flooding is possible with 2-4 inches of rain, and locally higher amounts, leading to potential evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may rapidly overflow, making many roads impassable.
The NWS also indicates a favorable situation for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Tornadoes can cause significant damage and hinder emergency plans.
