JACKSON COUNTY – Residents in Jackson County, including Marianna, must take immediate action as a Tropical Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective October 8 at 5:03 AM EDT. Tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours. This alert is severe and urgent.
Prepare for hazardous winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a potential for 39 to 57 mph. Secure all property and complete preparations immediately. Limited impacts are expected, including damage to porches, awnings, and unanchored mobile homes, along with scattered power outages and impassable roads due to debris.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, potentially leading to major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Roads may become impassable.
The tornado threat has increased. Emergency plans should include the potential for several tornadoes. Manufactured home residents should relocate to safe shelters.
