Drive with Caution: Dense Fog Advisory Issued for Region Until 10 AM MDT

A Dense Fog Advisory is in effect for Haakon, Northern Jackson, Mellette, Todd, Tripp, and Southern Jackson counties until 10 AM MDT today, September 27, with visibility at one-quarter mile or less, making driving hazardous. A Dense Fog Advisory has been issued for portions of south central and southwestern South Dakota, urging drivers to exercise extreme caution. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Rapid City SD issued the advisory today, September 27, at 8:41 AM MDT, and it remains in effect until 10:00 AM MDT /11:00 AM CDT/ this morning.

Affected areas include Haakon, Northern Jackson, Mellette, Todd, Tripp, and Southern Jackson counties. Visibility is expected to be one quarter mile or less due to the dense fog, making driving conditions hazardous.

The NWS advises that if you are driving in these areas, you should slow down, use your headlights, and ensure you leave plenty of distance between your vehicle and others on the road.
