Airmen team up to build shelter 120413-F-UP124-080
Police tape marks the perimeter of the Battle Mountain Humane Society that burned down in Hot Springs S.D., April 13, 2012. Eleven dogs died in the fire at the privately-owned animal shelter which has been operating for the last five years.

Mammoth Site Hot Springs
The Mammoth Site at Hot Springs, South Dakota is a paleontological site where mammoths and other megafauna got trapped in a sinkhole and drown about 26,000 years ago. Their bones were buried and preserved. The male specimen seen here is nicknamed "Murray". Today a museum has covered the site with a roof and gives tours.
