**Special Weather Statement issued September 22 at 3:13PM MDT by NWS Salt Lake City UT**

At 313 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near Great Salt Lake South of the Causeway, or 24 miles north of Grantsville, moving north at 30 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible.

Locations impacted include... Great Salt Lake South of the Causeway and Hat Island.

This storm will be capable of producing strong gusty winds on the Great Salt Lake. This will lead to a sudden increase in waves and very choppy waters which will result in hazardous boating conditions. Boaters are urged to seek safe harbor if possible.
