Marvel Rivals Season 10: Gorr Debuts, Sparks Player Debate

Homestead gamers began Season 10 of Marvel Rivals this week. The update introduces Gorr the God Butcher as the game's 28th playable character, alongside a series of balance changes that have ignited community discussion.
Gorr, a close-range brawler with a 4-out-of-5 difficulty rating, can place "Black Berserkers" for damage and teleportation, gaining bonus health on arrival. This playstyle draws comparisons to characters like Magik, Namor, Winter Soldier, and Loki.
Initial player feedback on Gorr is divided. Some find his low survivability limits his potential, while others consider him overpowered, anticipating he will become a significant threat as players master his abilities. Gorr currently has a 30% pick rate starting at Diamond rank, with a reported 55% win rate.
The season update also adjusted several characters. Scarlet Witch's ultimate now has a chance of invincibility and can target multiple enemies. Elsa Bloodstone and Winter Soldier appear unchanged despite previous nerfs. Gambit and other strategists have seen power reductions. These changes, along with feedback from the preceding Season 9.5, have not yet improved the game's overall balance, according to player sentiment.
A welcome change for the community is the removal of duplicate bans in ranked matches, though the total number of bans per team remains the same.
Beyond gameplay, the update also highlights ongoing community issues. Players report frequent disconnections, instances of teammates "throwing" games based on character choices, pre-game arguments, and a general lack of team-oriented play. These dynamics, present for ten seasons, are cited as a significant factor in the game's perceived decline, with the team element having diminished several seasons ago.
The season is only in its first weekend, and further community reactions and meta shifts are anticipated.
