Homestead Wastewater Rates Rise Oct. 1, 2026

Homestead residents and businesses will pay more for wastewater service starting Oct. 1, 2026, as the Florida Keys Aqueduct Authority (FKAA) adjusts its monthly fees and charges.

Single-family residential customers will see a Base Facility Charge of $43.32 per month. An additional Wastewater Flow Collection Charge of $16.40 per thousand gallons will apply, capped at 10,000 gallons of metered water consumption monthly.

Commercial customers and other service classes will also face new rates based on meter size. A 5/8" x ¾" meter will have a $43.32 monthly Base Facility Charge. Larger meters will incur higher charges, including $162.46 for a 1" meter and $3,250.87 for a 6" meter. The Wastewater Flow Collection Charge for these classes remains $16.40 per thousand gallons for all metered water consumption.

Customers using alternative water supplies will pay $130.24 monthly, which includes the base charge and a flow of 5,300 gallons. Seniors using alternative water supplies will receive a reduced rate of $86.93.

Other FKAA fees include an Annual Industrial Wastewater Discharge Permit for $80.00 and a New Facilities Wastewater Review Fee of $636.00. Industrial users with non-compliant discharges will face a High Strength Sewage Surcharge of $0.17 per gallon per month. Connection charges for new wastewater systems are $8,137.00 for a Low Pressure System and $9,918.00 for a Gravity System.

System Development Charges will apply to new residential, multi-unit, and commercial developments. Residential properties with three or fewer units will be charged $8,551.00 per unit. Common area facilities and irrigation for residential developments, as well as multi-unit commercial accounts, will be charged $227.00 per fixture value.

The FKAA adopted these updated rates and fees in October 2026. They become effective Oct. 1, 2026.
