Arthur Street Bridge Closed for Repairs
The city has closed the Arthur Street pedestrian bridge near Rotary Park after structural engineers identified problems with the foundation and railing system.
The bridge, which crosses North 31st Avenue, shut down as a precautionary measure. A structural engineering firm completed an assessment and found the bridge deck had only minor deterioration, but the foundation and railing require repairs before the bridge can reopen safely.
Engineers are preparing repair plans. Once the design is finalized, the city will hire a contractor to complete the work. The bridge is expected to reopen this fall, pending permits and contractor selection.
The closure forces pedestrians to use alternate routes to cross North 31st Avenue near Rotary Park.
