Hollywood Residents Can Now Open & Close Utility Accounts Online with City Department

Hollywood residents can now manage their utility accounts online, a new service the City of Hollywood offers for greater convenience. This digital option allows individuals to open new accounts or close existing ones from home.

Before starting the process, residents must confirm their property receives services from the City of Hollywood Department of Public Utilities. They can do this by calling Customer Service at 954-921-3938. Some properties within Hollywood receive services from Broward County or the Town of Davie, and in some cases, water and sewer services may come from different providers.

Opening a New Utility Account

To open a new utility account, residents must submit the Utility Service Application online. They need to have several documents ready: an executed lease agreement (if renting) or closing documents (if recently purchased property), a government-issued photo ID with a signature, and their desired service start date. The lease agreement must have been executed within 90 days prior to the submission date. Future lease start dates require an addendum.

After submission, Customer Service reviews the application and contacts the applicant if more information is necessary. Per City Ordinance, all new customers must pay a utility deposit, which varies by property type and appears on the first utility bill. Once the account is established, Customer Service emails the new account information.

Closing Your Utility Account

Residents wishing to close their utility account can do so by submitting the Utility Account Closure Application online. They need to provide their utility account number, a government-issued photo ID, a forwarding address for the final bill, and a requested service termination date. The termination date can be today, September 19, 2026, or within the next three business days.
