Hollywood offers $1,000 grants to boost civic engagement

The City of Hollywood is offering $1,000 grants to registered civic associations for programs and activities that promote civic engagement and community involvement. The FY2026 grant application is currently open, providing funding for initiatives that took place after the civic association’s official registration and through the end of the Fiscal Year.

This grant program aims to foster a more active and connected community by supporting local civic associations. Residents benefit from these grants through enhanced local programs and activities that strengthen neighborhood ties and encourage participation in local governance.

New funding for community initiatives

The City of Hollywood established the PEN Grant Program to support registered civic associations. These grants, up to $1,000, are specifically for programs and activities that promote civic engagement and community activity. The FY2026 grant application opened earlier this year, and associations could apply for initiatives that occurred after their registration and through the end of the Fiscal Year.

Eligibility and application process

Registered civic associations were eligible to apply for the PEN Grant. The application required a proposed summary of activities. If associations used grant funds for an event, they had to include event details with their application.

Reimbursement and reporting requirements

The City of Hollywood provided awarded grant funds on a reimbursement basis. Civic associations had to submit payment receipts and proof of completion for their initiatives. The deadline to apply for reimbursement was Thursday, July 30, 2026.
