Residents in Pinellas, Coastal Hillsborough, and Inland Hillsborough counties should be aware of strong thunderstorms capable of producing funnel clouds and wind gusts up to 50 mph. This Special Weather Statement has been issued by NWS Tampa Bay Ruskin FL and is effective until 9:15 PM EDT tonight, October 7, 2026.

At 8:43 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated strong thunderstorms moving east at 15 mph. These storms are located along a line extending from University to near Macdill Air Force Base. Locations impacted include Tampa, Temple Terrace, St. Petersburg, Tampa International Airport, Macdill Air Force Base, and other surrounding areas.

Minor damage to outdoor objects is possible. Funnel clouds can occasionally touch down and produce tornadoes or waterspouts. Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects.

If you are outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building immediately.
