Information Technology Mission Statement The Information Technology Division will lead, guide, and support in the effective use of computers and information processing technology, in partnership with City Departments, to meet the overall objective of providing quality services to the Citizens of Parkland. Services Provided The Information Technology Division relies on its own internal staff, plus the assistance of external partners, to provide all computer related services for the city. Tourist Development Council

Section 125.0104 of Florida Statutes authorizes the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners to levy and impose a Tourist Development Tax on the exercise of the privilege of renting, leasing, or letting for consideration any living quarters or accommodations within the County boundaries, in any hotel, apartment hotel, motel, resort motel, apartment, apartment motel, roominghouse, mobile home park, recreational vehicle park, condominium, or timeshare resort for a term of six (6) months or less. On October 13, 2020, the Board repealed the Sumter County Tourist Development Tax Ordinance, effective September 30, 2020. The Board has discussed in workshops re-establishing the tourist development tax within the County boundaries. The Tourist Development Council (TDC) would need to prepare and submit to the Board a plan for tourist development setting forth anticipated net development tax revenue for 24 months following the levy of the tax; the tax district in which the enactment or renewal of the ordinance levying and imposing the tourist development tax is proposed; and a list, in the order of priority, of the proposed uses of the tax revenue by specific project or special use as the same are authorized under subsection (5). The plan shall include the approximate cost or expense allocation for each specific project or special use. North Sumter County Utility Dependent District (NSCUDD)

North Sumter County Utility Dependent District (NSCUDD) NSCUDD consists of a seven-member Board of Directors representing Districts 5-10 and one at large seat. The members are elected by registered voters residing in Districts 5-10. In the event that an elected member is unable to serve the remainder of their term, the Board of County Commissioners will appoint a replacement to serve the remaining term. The Villages Public Safety Department Dependent District (TVPSDDD)

All Board Supervisors of The Villages Public Safety Department Dependent District have been elected by “qualified electors” (registered voters) residing in the District. They are elected on a non-partisan basis on the general election ballot. Value Adjustment Board

The Value Adjustment Board (VAB) is an independent board created by Chapter 194, Florida Statutes, to hear Property Owner’s appeals regarding property tax issues. The Board consists of: • Two (2) members of the Sumter County Board of County Commissioners • One (1) member of the Sumter County School Board • One (1) citizen member appointed by the County Commission • One (1) citizen member appointed by the School Board. The Clerk of the Circuit Court, County Court and Board of County Commissioners is the Clerk of the VAB. The VAB, as a panel, considers and renders a decision on all appeals of property assessed values, classifications and exemptions. The VAB has no jurisdiction or control over taxes or tax rates established by the Taxing Authorities. The VAB’s primary function is to hear evidence as to whether or not properties, petitioned for their consideration, are assessed at their proper value and/or whether tax exemptions or agricultural classifications should be approved. The VAB cannot change your assessed value or grant an exemption or classification based on personal hardship. The VAB appoints Special Magistrates who are qualified real estate appraisers, personal property appraisers, or attorneys to conduct hearings and make recommendations to the VAB on all petitions. WellFlorida Council

WellFlorida Council Members Members shall serve for terms of 2 years and may be eligible for reappointment. Overview WellFlorida Council (formerly known as the North Central Florida Health Planning Council) exists under Florida's health planning law (Section 408.033, Florida Statutes). Local health councils are hereby established as public or private nonprofit agencies serving the counties of a district. The members of each council shall be appointed in an equitable manner by the county commissions having jurisdiction in the respective district. Each council shall be composed of a number of persons equal to 1 1/2 times the number of counties which compose the district or 12 members, whichever is greater. The bylaws specify that LTAB meetings will take place on the first Thursday of May and November. Duties include reviewing current technological advances in library services that would improve levels of service in the Sumter County Library System and make recommendations for technology changes. Lake Sumter MPO CAC

The Bylaws of the Lake Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization (LSMPO) state "The citizens of the area shall be involved in the transportation planning process by the establishment of a MPO Community Advisory Committee (CAC).” The Lake Sumter Metropolitan Planning Organization Community Advisory Committee (CAC) is comprised of interested community members. Therefore, this committee has a special advisory role to the LSMPO because it provides a necessary communication link between the LSMPO and the community it is serving. Thus, the input provided by the CAC insures that the LSMPO planning process is meeting the needs of the community it is serving. Members of this committee are listed on the LSMPO website here.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Robert Boos and the reappointment of Robert Stern to the Southwest Florida Water Management District. Robert Boos Boos is the Co-Founder, President, and Chief Executive Officer of Boos Development Group, Inc. Active in his community, he is a member of The Florida Council of 100 and a long-standing member of the Young Presidents' Organization and the International Council of Shopping Centers. Boos earned his bachelor’s degree in marketing from Florida State University and his master’s degree in business administration from the University of South Florida. Robert Stern Stern is a Shareholder at Trenam Law. Active in his community, he has served as a member of the University of Florida Board of Trustees, the Florida Postsecondary Education Planning Commission, and the Tampa Civil Service Board. Stern earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration and his juris doctor from the University of Florida. These appointments are subject to confirmation by the Florida Senate.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Today, Governor Ron DeSantis announced the appointment of Peter Crocitto, Jo Culberson, Nan Jeffcoat, and David Vincent and the reappointment of Christopher Nebbeling, James “Randy” Reaves, and Edgar Rosa to the Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission. Peter Crocitto Crocitto is the Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer at Keiser University. Active in his community, he has served as a member of the Commission for Independent Education, the Career College Association, and the Southern Association of Student Financial Aid Administration. Crocitto earned his bachelor’s degree in accounting from Fort Lauderdale College and his master’s degree in business administration from the New York Institute of Technology. Jo Culberson Culberson is the Director of the Northwest Florida State College Public Safety Training Center. Previously, she served as the Law Enforcement Training Coordinator and Sergeant of Police at Northwest Florida State College and a Deputy Sheriff and School Resource Officer for the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office. Culberson earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of West Florida. Nan Jeffcoat Jeffcoat is a Warden for the Florida Department of Corrections. Previously, she served as an Assistant Warden for the Florida Department of Corrections and a Victim Advocate for the Eighth Circuit State Attorney’s Office. Jeffcoat earned her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from the University of Central Florida. David Vincent Vincent is the Citrus County Sheriff. Active in his community, he is a member of the YMCA of the Suncoast Board of Directors and is a Graduate of the FBI National Academy. Vincent earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Florida Gulf Coast University. Christopher Nebbeling Nebbeling is a Patrol Officer, Instructor, and Range Master with the West Palm Beach Police Department. He is a Florida Department of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor, Master Taser Instructor, Driving Instructor, and Defensive Tactics Instructor. A veteran of the United States Army, Nebbeling earned his bachelor’s degree in history from the University of Phoenix. James “Randy” Reaves Reaves is a Sergeant with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office. He has been in law enforcement for over 20 years and currently serves as the President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 5-30 in Jacksonville. Reaves earned his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Auburn University. Edgar Rosa Rosa is a Correctional Sergeant with the Orange County Corrections Department. He is currently the President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 86 where he has been a member since 2004. Rosa earned a Corrections Officer Certification from Valencia College.
