When emergencies occur or dangerous situations develop, public safety may need to notify residents of the hazards and what actions to take. This can include wildfire evacuations, hazardous materials releases, dangerous weather, active threats and a myriad of other scenarios. Beltrami County has contracted with Everbridge to disseminate emergency notifications through text messages, phones calls, email, smart device apps and FEMA’s Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS). The service is free, but residents must enroll their phone and contact information through Everbridge’s Community Enrollment page: https://member.everbridge.net/index/88752814817449. The link is also available by visiting the Public Safety page on the Beltrami County website. Emergency notifications are initiated by the Beltrami County Emergency Communications Center or Office of Emergency Management at the request of commanders in charge of an incident. New for 2026, with Everbridge, automated weather alerts are included for dangerous weather such as tornado warnings from the National Weather Service. Alerts are based off the address you provide upon enrollment and do not track your location. The IPAWS system will automatically send notifications through Wireless Emergency Alerts. Beltrami County decommissioned the CodeRED system late in 2025 and Everbridge has replaced that service. If you were enrolled in CodeRED, your information was not transferred to the new system and you must register with Everbridge. If you are having difficulties enrolling with Everbridge or have questions, please contact Beltrami County Emergency Management Director Christopher Muller by email: [email protected] or by phone 218-333-8386.
