Flag Status USA September 21, 2026 Flag Status: Full-Staff Flag Status Executive Orders: Executive Order No. 1596 In accordance Governor Tate Reeves’ Executive Orde, the Governor has directed that all flags of the United States and the State of Mississippi be flown at half-staff on all buildings and grounds across the State beginning at sunrise and continuing through sunset on SATURDAY, September 19, 2026, in honor of Claiborne County Sheriff’s Deputy Terrian Earl Bailey, Sr. September 18, 2026 The 25th Anniversary of the September 11 Terrorist Attacks In accordance with President Donald J. Trump’s attached Proclamation, Governor Reeves has directed that all flags of the United States and the State of Mississippi be flown at half-staff on all buildings and grounds across the State beginning at sunrise and continuing through sunset TOMORROW, September 11, 2026, in recognition of the 25th Anniversary of the 9/11 Terrorist Attacks and Patriot Day. September 10, 2026 In Remembrance of Dolly Parton In accordance with President Donald J. Trump’s directive, Governor Reeves has ordered that all flags of the United States and the State of Mississippi be flown at half-staff on all buildings and grounds across the State for one week beginning today at 6:00 PM in honor and remembrance of Dolly Parton. August 25, 2026 Death of Senator Lindsey Graham Flags to be flown at half-staff through July 18 in honor of the late U.S. Senator Lindsey Graham. July 14, 2026 Executive Order No.1595 Governor Reeves proclaims a day of official mourning in the State of Mississippi in memory of Jackson County Deputy Michael "Mike" Leroy Jimerson and directs that all flags be flown at half-staff on buildings and grounds in Mississippi beginning at sunrise and ending at sunset on Friday, April 10, 2026, in memory of Deputy Jimerson. Mississippi will forever remember Deputy Jimerson for his selflessness, love and quiet strength, and though his watch has ended, his legacy will live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him. Operation Green Light for Veterans

There are more than 11,200 veterans who call DeSoto County, Mississippi home. As part of events surrounding Veterans Day, DeSoto County buildings will be illuminated green from November 4, 2025 to November 11, 2025. By shining a green light, DeSoto County will let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. DeSoto County Supervisors invite businesses, organizations, HOAs, residents, and other governments to join them in raising awareness about the unique challenges faced by many veterans by - lighting buildings and homes green from November 4th to November 11th. HOW YOU CAN PARTICIPATE Individuals can participate by simply changing one light bulb in their house to a green bulb. This can be an exterior light that neighbors and those passing by will see, or an interior light that sparks a conversation with friends. By shining a green light, you let veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, and supported. It is something you can even do year-round. Home Owner Associations HOAs can show support for Veterans by adding a green light to HOA buildings, entryway signs, and community street lights. You can also encourage residents to participate by sending a flyer or making a social media post. Samples are posted below. Governments/Businesses Operation Green Light encourages cities, towns, private businesses, and organizations to light their buildings in green from November 4 through 11. You can also announce your participation ahead of time with a news release and through social media posts. (Examples are included below.) Be sure to share your participation on social media using the hashtag #OperationGreenlight #DeSotoCounty. ABOUT OPERATION GREEN LIGHT The Meaning of Green Green is the color of hope, renewal and well-being. Greenlight is also a term commonly used to activate forward movement. The simple action of changing one light to green is intended to spark a national conversation regarding the recognition of veterans, and "greenlight" them forward as valued members of our communities. Why Operation Green Light is Needed America's veterans are some of our nation's bravest, hardest-working men and women. However, it is hard to show them the appreciation they deserve when, back home and out of uniform; they are more camouflaged than ever. By displaying a green light for our veterans, we not only bring attention to veterans and their need, we can also reflect on how we can assist our military service personal as they transition back into civilian life upon completion of their service to our country. Joining Other Counties DeSoto County is joining the National Association of Counties (NACo) and the National Association of County Veteran Service Officers (NACVSO) in inviting the nation’s 3,069 counties, parishes, and boroughs to join Operation Green Light.
