Local Faulkner Graduate Joins Apologetics Press as Media Specialist

For Aaron Reynolds, joining the team at Apologetics Press is more than just a new full-time job—it’s a full-circle moment. Around the age of 11, Aaron began asking his parents serious questions about the existence of God. He wanted to learn why belief in God and the Bible made sense. During those formative years, Aaron was introduced to AP Christian evidence materials. What started as a child’s questions gradually grew into an abiding love for God, His Word, and Christian apologetics. Now, years later, Aaron has officially joined the AP team as our new Media & Production Specialist. I first met Aaron when he was in high school. I was then blessed to get to know him during his collegiate years at Faulkner University, where he was a stellar student. Aaron earned two Bachelor of Arts degrees from Faulkner—one in Biblical Text and another in English with a Creative Writing emphasis. While in college, Aaron also served as the youth intern for three years with the Wetumpka (AL) church of Christ—my home congregation. Aaron did an exemplary job, connecting not only with the teens, but with the entire congregation, who quickly grew to love him. He also served as a model counselor at AP summer camp while in college. Now, a decade later, Aaron brings a unique blend of biblical training, creativity, and professional media experience to his new role at AP. He spent several years working in radio broadcasting, audio and video production, as well as film and television production. For the past four years, Aaron has also done freelance work with AP, filming and editing dozens of videos, including the final five episodes of Digger Doug’s Underground. In his new full-time role, Aaron will help expand AP’s media outreach by producing a wide range of video and audio content for AP’s website, app, social media accounts, and more. Our hope and prayer is that God will use Aaron’s sincere Christian character, experience, and many talents to get more sound biblical teaching before more people than ever in AP’s 47-year history. Please join me in welcoming Aaron to the team! To God be the glory! The post AP Staff Spotlight: Aaron Reynolds, Media & Production Specialist appeared first on Apologetics Press.

TROY Montgomery Alumni Chapter Awards $6,000 in Scholarships

Troy University’s Montgomery Metro Alumni Chapter gathered earlier this month to award scholarship to two current TROY students and one incoming student. The chapter awarded $2,000 scholarships current TROY students Jennifer Serna and Samuel Myers and incoming student Maggie Weatherford, a recent graduate of Pike Road High School. An annual golf tournament and silent auction are the chapter’s main fundraising effort to fund scholarships. “Mainly due to our golf tournament each fall and the silent auction we have along with it, we have been able to increase the amount of our scholarships,” said chapter President Bryan Hubbard. “This year we are able to give three scholarships at $2,000 each, and we are very proud of that.” Myers and Weatherford attended the gathering on May 7 at the Wynlakes home of Alumni Director Faith Byrd where they were recognized and awarded the scholarships. “I’m just very grateful to receive this scholarship,” said Weatherford, who will be studying nursing at TROY. “I have an older brother who is already in college, I will be starting my college journey in the fall, and I have a younger brother who will be a freshman after me, so I am so grateful to receive this type of support.” Myers just completed his first year as a TROY student and is pursuing a degree in accounting. “For me, this scholarship will help me continue to be able to afford everything that I need to do and enjoy all of the experiences that going along with attending TROY,” he said. “It is an honor to receive this scholarship, and it has been a great experience to be here tonight to meet all of these great TROY alumni and make some wonderful connections.” Serna, a first-generation college student who began her TROY journey as an online student, was also awarded a scholarship but was unable to attend the event. “Jennifer is a very hard worker and dedicated student, and we are very proud to be able to select her as one of our scholarship recipients,” Hubbard said. American Legion Reporting Deadline Set for July 1

The deadline to submit the 2025-2026 American Legion Consolidated Post Report (CPR) and Consolidated Squadron Report (CSR) is July 1. Departments that achieve 100% post reporting by the deadline will receive a plaque on stage at the 107th National Convention in Louisville, Ky. For tips on how to fill out the CPR and CSR, common mistakes to avoid and why this reporting matters, listen to the recorded April 28 Training Tuesday session. The fillable 2024-2025 CPR is available on legion.org and in MyLegion. The CSR is is available here and in MyLegion. The form provides posts and squadrons an opportunity to document external activities, such as volunteer hours, fundraising efforts, Be the One events, funeral honors, youth programs, scholarships, blood donations and more. This data is collected by National Headquarters to help quantify – for Congress, American Legion media, national leadership and more – the good that American Legion Family members do in their communities every year. Post commanders and adjutants can follow these steps to access the reports in MyLegion: 1. Begin in My Groups. The dashboard will display a link for consolidated reports.  2. Click “Edit Reports” or “View/Edit Reports” from the left menu. Then view dashboard. The dashboard with consolidated report options is restricted to post and squadron adjutants.  3. My Consolidated Post Reports window will open. This window provides information for open and closed reports. Click “Edit” to open the report.  4. Click “Edit” in Preview and Final Steps to open the report fields to enter data.  Report information provides field boxes to include data. The number located at the lower right indicates the maximum characters allowed. Tab to go from one field to the next or scroll and click. Please note that the report is no longer completed in sections; it is one continuous form. At the bottom of the form are buttons to “Save as Draft,” “Next” or “Cancel.” •  Save As Draft – saves draft and allows you to return and make future entries.  •  Next – provides “Submit Final” button to finalize. Finalizing the report closes the report for additional updates.   The American Legion National Headquarters 700 N. VA Issues RFP for 220-Unit Veteran Housing at West LA Campus

"The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs on May 21 issued a request for proposals to build approximately 220 temporary units to house veterans at the West Los Angeles VA Medical Center north campus. The RFP invites companies to submit proposals for delivering the housing units by the end of 2026 calendar year in accordance with VA’s clinically driven specifications. Initial proposals are due by June 23, 2026, and VA expects to award the contract, worth up to $30 million, by August 2026. The RFP is the latest in a long line of actions VA is taking to implement President Trump’s executive order to create the National Center for Warrior Independence on the West LA VAMC campus. VA’s goal is to turn the campus into a beacon of hope and a destination for homeless veterans from across the nation. VA has been hard at work expanding housing and building the infrastructure required to provide care and training to thousands of veterans. In January 2025, the campus had the capacity to house 955 veterans; today, the campus can house 1,377 veterans. By the end of 2026, the campus will have the capacity to house 1,670 veterans and in 2027 2,048 veterans. VA plans to add thousands of additional housing units in the coming years and will have more to announce as these decisions are made. The American Legion National Headquarters 700 N. LAHM Gala 2026

"Join us on June 18th at 583 Park Avenue as we proudly honor Wynton Marsalis at our annual Gala celebration. A world-renowned trumpeter, composer, bandleader, and one of the foremost advocates of American culture, Marsalis has devoted more than four decades to elevating and advancing jazz around the globe. Born in New Orleans and shaped by a rich musical legacy, he rose to international prominence after joining Art Blakey and the The Jazz Messengers, and has since performed thousands of concerts across hundreds of cities worldwide. As Managing and Artistic Director of Jazz at Lincoln Center, Director of Jazz Studies at The Juilliard School, and President of the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation, Marsalis continues to shape the future of jazz through performance, composition, and education. His extraordinary body of work and global honors reflect a lifelong commitment to the power of music to inspire freedom, swing, resilience, and collective action. We are thrilled to celebrate his enduring artistry and leadership in the very home of Louis Armstrong.     The post LAHM Gala 2026 appeared first on Louis Armstrong House Museum."
