Alfred G. Sanchez, a loving, adventurous, and courageous man, passed away on April 25, 2026, in Odessa, Texas, at the age of 76.Born on May 5, 1949, in Lamesa, Texas, he carried the values of hard work, loyalty, and devotion throughout his life. He was a proud veteran whose service to his country reflected the strength of character that those who knew him came to admire. Alfred served in the Army for 674 days and earned recognition as a sharpshooter, a distinction that spoke to both his discipline and his steady focus. He carried his military service with quiet pride, and his time in uniform remained an important part of his story.Alfred built his life around the people he loved most. Family was the center of his world, and the time he shared with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren brought him deep joy. He is survived by his sons, Alfred Sanchez Jr. and John Anthony Sanchez. He is also survived by his brothers, Robert Sanchez and Gilbert Sanchez Sr. He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Reyes, and his brothers, Adolfo Sanchez, Candelario Sanchez, Albert, Luis, Arthur, Richard, and Ennis Jr. He leaves behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren who will carry forward his memory and the love he gave so freely. Those who knew Alfred will remember a man who enjoyed life in simple but meaningful ways. He loved to go fishing, where he found peace and enjoyment in the quiet moments outdoors. He also loved watching sports and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, cheering on his team with enthusiasm and pride. Whether he was spending time with family, following a game, or enjoying the calm of a fishing trip, Alfred found happiness in the things that brought people together. His friends and family will remember him as someone who lived with courage and warmth. He had a loving spirit that made others feel welcome, an adventurous nature that gave him a full and interesting life, and a brave heart that carried him through both challenges and triumphs. He was a proud veteran, and he never lost sight of the importance of service, family, and faith in the bonds that hold loved ones close.Alfred’s greatest accomplishment was not found in titles or recognition, but in the life, he built and the example he set. He showed those around him what it meant to be dependable, caring, and strong. His presence will be deeply missed, but the memories he created will remain a lasting comfort to those who knew and loved him.May he be remembered with gratitude for the life he lived and the love he shared. His legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Templeton Middle School Students Advance to State History Day

More than twenty Templeton Middle School (TMS) eighth graders will compete April 25 at the state level of the National History Day academic enrichment program held at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Finalists were selected following National History Day (NHD) presentations held for regional level judges at Concordia University in March. This year’s theme was ‘Revolution, Reaction, Reform in History.’ TMS 8th grade social studies students have been working on the NHD projects for several weeks.  “This project allows students the opportunity to do a deep dive into a topic of their choice centered around an annual theme established by the National History Day organization,” explains Templeton Middle School Social Studies Teacher Rhonda Watton. “Students are able to collaborate with others if they want, they are able to discover a variety of primary sources, interview others and really be able to become an expert historian on their topics.”  National History Day is an academic enrichment program for students in grades 6-12. Hamilton High to Present 'The Drowsy Chaperone'

" Hamilton High School Drama Society presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” May 1-3 at the Hamilton Fine Arts Center (HFAC). Shows begin at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. for the Sunday performance. With the houselights down, a man in a chair appears on stage and puts on his favorite record: the cast recording of a fictitious 1928 musical. The recording comes to life and The Drowsy Chaperone begins as the man in the chair looks on. Mix in two lovers on the eve of their wedding, a bumbling best man, a desperate theatre producer, a not-so-bright hostess, two gangsters posing as pastry chefs, a misguided Don Juan and a chaperone more focused on herself then the bride, and you have the ingredients for an evening of madcap delight. Tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased at www.hamiltonfineartscenter.com or at the box office 30 minutes before each performance. The HFAC is located at W220 N6151 Town Line Rd., Sussex. The post Hamilton drama presents “The Drowsy Chaperone” appeared first on Hamilton School District."
