A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Henry County, effective immediately as of October 8 at 8:01 AM EDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL. This warning covers Abbeville and Headland, indicating tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours. Residents should complete all preparations now.

Peak winds are forecast at 15-25 mph with gusts up to 35 mph, with a potential for winds reaching 39 to 57 mph. Damage to awnings, carports, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are expected, particularly on bridges.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Expect 2-4 inches of rain, with higher localized amounts, leading to potential moderate flooding. Rivers and streams may overflow, and some evacuations and rescues are possible in vulnerable areas. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

The NWS also indicates conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, with a potential for a few intense ones. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. The warning expires at 4:15 PM UTC today.
