A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Henry County, effective immediately as of October 8 at 5:22 PM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. This warning affects the communities of Abbeville and Headland.

Residents should expect hazardous winds of 15-25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph, with potential for winds reaching 39-57 mph. Efforts to protect property are underway; complete all preparations before hazardous winds begin. Expect potential for damage to lightweight structures, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain forecast, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate flooding is expected, potentially leading to evacuations and rescues. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and streams may overflow, and roads could become impassable.

The NWS indicates a favorable situation for tornadoes, with potential for several, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelters immediately. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly. The warning expires October 9 at 1:30 AM UTC. For more information, visit weather.gov/tallahassee or ema.alabama.gov.
