HENRY COUNTY, AL – October 8, 2026 – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Tallahassee, FL has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Henry County, effective immediately as of 11:05 PM EDT. This warning remains in effect until 7:15 AM EDT on October 9, 2026, impacting communities including Abbeville and Headland.
Residents should act now to complete preparations before hazardous winds begin. Plan for potential winds of 39 to 57 mph, with peak gusts up to 40 mph, which could cause damage to unanchored mobile homes, fences, and lead to scattered power outages. Efforts to protect property should be underway. Driving conditions may become hazardous on bridges and elevated roadways.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Prepare for 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, which could lead to moderate flooding, evacuations, and rescues. Rivers and streams may overflow, and some roads may become impassable. Heed any flood watches and warnings.
There is also a significant threat of several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Listen for tornado watches and warnings. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should prepare to relocate to safe shelter. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
