Residents in the Bitterroot/Sapphire Mountains and Potomac/Seeley Lake Region should prepare for snow and slippery road conditions beginning this evening. The National Weather Service (NWS) Missoula has issued a Winter Weather Advisory, effective from October 10 at 6:00 PM MDT until October 12 at 6:00 AM MDT.

Forecasters expect total snow accumulations between 2 and 6 inches, with localized higher totals of 8 to 10 inches in the mountains. Winds are also anticipated to gust as high as 40 mph. The affected areas include I-90 East Missoula to Bearmouth, Highway 93 Sula to Lost Trail Pass, Highway 83 Seeley Lake to Condon, Lolo Pass, and Highway 200 Bonner to Greenough.

The NWS advises motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling due to anticipated slippery road conditions. For the latest road conditions, dial 511. Pedestrians are also urged to be cautious of icy and slippery surfaces on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways to prevent falls and injuries.
