Wastewater Spill on 54th Ave S in St. Petersburg

A wastewater discharge of approximately 15,000 gallons occurred Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, on 54th Avenue South in St. Petersburg. Crews have since cleaned the site and are repairing the broken force main.

ST. PETERSBURG, FL – Approximately 15,000 gallons of wastewater discharged Thursday, Sept. 24, 2026, after a force main broke in the 1600 block of 54th Avenue South, near the Pinellas Trail.

City officials reported vacuum trucks recovered about 1,000 gallons. The remaining wastewater flowed to a retention pond on Anastasia Way South.

Crews cleaned and sanitized the site. Repairs to the force main, located near the Tierra Verde causeway entrance, are underway.
