A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Greene County, including Eutaw, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, effective October 8, 2026, at 12:59 PM CDT. This watch will expire at 9:00 PM CDT.

Residents should plan for hazardous winds of equivalent tropical storm force. Efforts to protect property should now be underway. Prepare for limited wind damage, including potential damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects should be secured. Scattered power and communications outages are possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Emergency plans should include the potential for moderate flooding from heavy rain, with 2-4 inches of rainfall expected and locally higher amounts. Moderate rainfall flooding may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries may become swollen, and small streams, creeks, and ditches could overflow. Consider protective actions if you are in an area vulnerable to flooding. Heed all flood watches and warnings.

Tornadoes are not expected, according to the NWS. For more information and to prepare, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
