A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Greene County, including Eutaw, effective immediately as of October 8 at 7:10 PM CDT, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL. This watch remains in effect until October 9 at 3:15 AM UTC.

Residents should prepare for hazardous winds between 39 to 57 mph, with peak gusts potentially reaching 40 mph. Efforts to protect property, including securing porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes, should be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Damage to large tree limbs and scattered power outages are possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect, with 2-4 inches of rain expected, and locally higher amounts possible. Moderate rainfall flooding could lead to evacuations and rescues. Rivers and streams may overflow, and roads may become impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings. Driving conditions will be hazardous, especially in low-lying areas and underpasses.

Tornadoes are not expected at this time; however, showers and thunderstorms with gusty winds may still occur. Stay informed of the latest forecast updates.
