Construction began this month on a 1.4-mile stretch of State Road 25, also known as State Road 80 or U.S. 27, in Hendry County. The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project focuses on the roadway between the Industrial Canal and West Sagamore Avenue.
The $4.8 million project aims to extend the pavement's service life by milling and resurfacing. Upgrades also include the storm sewer system, roadway elements, signage, pavement markings and traffic signals. Construction is expected to continue through July 2027.
Motorists should prepare for temporary lane closures, traffic pattern shifts and reduced speeds. Both day and nighttime closures are possible. Drivers should watch for changing conditions, sidewalk detours, heavy equipment and construction crews.
