Clewiston Fire Department Implements Mandatory Extensive Training for All Personnel

Clewiston Fire Department personnel must now complete a series of rigorous training courses, including specific FEMA certifications and essential medical and firefighting standards. These new requirements ensure all firefighters meet a high level of preparedness and proficiency, directly impacting the safety and emergency response capabilities for Glades & Hendry residents.

The updated mandates cover all department members, from entry-level firefighters to officers. All Clewiston Fire Department personnel are required to complete four specific FEMA courses: ICS 100 (IS-100.C: Introduction to the Incident Command System), ICS 200 (IS-200.C: Basic Incident Command System for Initial Response), NIMS 700 (IS-700.B: An Introduction to the National Incident Management System), and NIMS 800 (IS-800.D: National Response Framework, An Introduction). A FEMA Student ID (SID) is a prerequisite for all these online courses. Beyond FEMA training, all personnel must hold Emergency Medical Responder (EMR)/First Responder, BLS (Basic Life Support), and Firefighter I/Firefighter II certifications.

Clewiston Fire Department Officers face additional, more advanced training.
