Wind Gusts Up To 50 MPH Expected in Campbell and Weston Counties
A Special Weather Statement warns of wind gusts up to 50 MPH in Northern and Southern Campbell, Weston County Plains, and Newcastle, effective until 7:00 PM MDT today, September 18.
Residents in Northern Campbell, Southern Campbell, Weston County Plains, and Newcastle are advised to monitor weather conditions closely as a Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Rapid City, SD.
As of 6:26 PM MDT today, September 18, automated observations indicate a line of showers moving northeast at 35 mph, extending from areas south of Echeta to near Rochelle, and from west of Gillette to southeast of Wright. This system is bringing wind gusts up to 50 mph.
The NWS warns that these gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include Gillette, various local mines (Coal Creek, Cordero Rojo, Caballo, Belle Ayr, Wyodak, Dry Fork, Rawhide, Eagle Butte, Buckskin), Hilight Gas Plant, Rochelle, Clareton, Camplex Event Facility, and Gillette Airport. Interstate 90 in Wyoming, specifically between Mile Markers 103 and 140, is also affected.
This Special Weather Statement is effective immediately and is set to expire at 7:00 PM MDT today, September 18. Residents should be alert for threatening weather conditions during this period.
