Sussex Academy Inducts 23 Into World Language Honor Society
Sussex Academy inducted 23 students into the World Language Honor Society on May 20, honoring those who maintained GPAs above 85 percent in world language courses and completed service hours promoting cultural awareness.
The inductees lit candles during the ceremony to mark their entry. The school presented the Premio de Honor Award to graduating senior Princessa Lopez Diaz for her dedication to the society.
Eight graduating seniors received red and yellow cords representing the chapter: Katya Geyer, Oliver Graves, Amber Jennings, Priya Haldar, Karla Hernandez, Leni Kuska, Princessa Lopez Diaz and Ben Steimel.
The society elected new officers for 2026-27: Olivia Dickerson as president, Caroline White as vice president, Rossy Angel Herrera as secretary, Brooklyn Montgomery as treasurer and Reagan Hastings as historian.
Members participate in cultural events including Día de Muertos and culture day. They also support the Pulsera Project, which connects Central American artists with students in more than 3,800 U.S. schools through hand-woven bracelet sales.
Spanish teachers Nico Caceres and Emily Gutiérrez advise the society.
