Elizabeth Dooley, Elizabethtown Resident, Passes Away
Elizabeth June Dooley fell asleep in death on April 11, 2026.She was born November 28, 1954 to James C. Shelley and Hortense Carter. At the age of 5, her parents began studying the Bible with Jehovah’s Witnesses and that would determine her life course. She began giving talks at 6-years-old and never stopped. She was baptized January 22, 1972.Elizabeth attended Chicago Vocational High School where she finished in the top five of 682 in her class, specializing as an Administrative Assistant. In her senior year, she worked for two Vice-Presidents of Continental Illinois Bank, which later became Chase Bank. In that year, she was ranked third in the nation with her secretarial skills. Though she enjoyed being a secretary, what she enjoyed more was talking and teaching people about Jehovah God and His Kingdom promises, spending a total of 27 years in full-time service.In 1973 she and a friend visited Rockford, Illinois where she met her future husband, Loyd Martin Dooley, as they worked together in the ministry. They were married February 2, 1974. They would have two children, Suzanne and Stephanie, and raise them in Rockford.She took early retirement from GE when the railroad division was sold to enhance that joy by moving to (as she called it) her town, Elizabethtown, KY.Some of those who survive her are her husband Loyd, daughters Suzanne (Scot) Miller, Stephanie (Emmett) Tate, mother Hortense Shelley, brothers Daniel Shelley and Timothy Shelley, uncle Earl Carter Jr., nephew Paris Shelley, and bonus grandchildren, Suzanne (Garret) Miller-Crabbe and Lucy Miller.She was preceded in death by her father James Shelley Sr. and brother James Shelley Jr.Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Radcliff, KY on Sunday, April 26, 2026. A brief visitation will be held from to 2-3 pm, with services beginning at 3 pm.Cremation was chosen by the family.To express an online condolence and to light a candle of remembrance please visit, www.trowbridgefh.com Trowbridge Funeral Home in Boston has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Hardin County Launches TextMyGov Service for 24/7 Issue Reporting
Skip the phone call, Text "Report or Issue" 270-951-0951You can Report an Issue here or Text the issue to 270-951-0951. Once your report is received you will receive a copy with a request number. Requests are processed as they are received. An email confirmation will be sent to both you and the department responsible for correcting the issue.This portal can be used to view the status and any notes added to your request. Please note to find your request updates you will need to search by request#. If you do not know your request number, please text your request to 270-951-0951 or email the Help Desk.Hardin County residents can now skip the phone call and connect digitally with a new text messaging platform.Hardin County Government has joined with TextMyGov. Residents in Hardin County have the ability to receive answers to common questions, report an issue or concern, and request services 24/7 with TextMyGov.When reporting (i.e., pothole, trash, road sign) users will be requested to respond to specific questions, about the concern. You will have the ability to upload a photo if needed. Reports and issues are then imported into one of the County's record management software and emailed to the appropriate staff.Residents can also text in keywords (i.e., hours, agenda, pets, Car tags) and receive autogenerated responses or a link to Hardin County's website containing applicable information.View terms and privacy policy info at textmygov.com/opt-in-terms-conditions
