Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Gadsden County: Act Now
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Gadsden County, including Quincy and Chattahoochee, with immediate threats from hazardous winds, major flooding, and potential tornadoes; residents must act now to secure property and seek shelter.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Gadsden County, effective immediately as of 2:07 AM EDT today, October 10th. The warning, issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee, FL, impacts Quincy and Chattahoochee, and is set to expire at 10:15 AM UTC today.
Residents should plan for hazardous wind, with peak gusts up to 35 mph. Finish securing property as soon as possible and move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous. Potential impacts include limited damage to structures like porches and carports, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are possible, especially on elevated roadways.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with the potential for major flooding rain. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to take action can result in serious injury or loss of life. Major rainfall flooding may prompt numerous evacuations and rescues, with rivers and tributaries potentially overflowing. Floodwaters can enter many structures, making some uninhabitable. Roads may become impassable and some bridges could be washed out.
A Tornado Watch is also in effect. Several tornadoes are possible, with a few potentially intense. If you live in a manufactured home or on a boat, relocate to safe shelter now. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly if a warning is issued. Significant impacts from tornadoes include potential damage to homes, power loss, and dangerous projectiles.
