A Lake Wind Advisory is in effect for the West Side Mountains north of Highway 198, including San Luis Reservoir, until Monday at 2:00 AM PDT due to strong winds creating hazardous conditions for small craft and difficult driving for high-profile vehicles.
A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for the West Side Mountains north of Highway 198, including the San Luis Reservoir, effective immediately until 2:00 AM PDT on Monday, October 12, 2026. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Hanford, CA, issued this advisory at 10:33 PM PDT on October 11, 2026.
West winds are expected to reach 20 to 30 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. These strong winds and rough waves will create hazardous conditions for small craft on area lakes, particularly the San Luis Reservoir.
The NWS advises that winds of this strength can also make driving difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles. Motorists are urged to use extra caution when traveling in the affected areas.
