A Storm Surge Warning has been issued for Coastal Franklin, effective immediately, by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. This warning means life-threatening inundation from rising water is expected within the next 36 hours. All residents in Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, and Alligator Point should prioritize preparations and evacuations if advised.
A peak storm surge inundation of 4-6 feet above ground is possible in surge-prone areas, with the primary concern window from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed now. Tropical storm-force winds of 20-30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph are possible. Efforts to protect property should be underway, and preparations for limited wind damage should be made.
