A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Coastal Franklin, including Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, and Alligator Point, as of October 7 at 4:52 PM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee. Residents in these areas should finalize preparations immediately.
Threats include potential tropical storm force winds of 39 to 57 mph, with peak gusts up to 40 mph. Efforts to protect property should be underway now, and preparations must be completed before winds become hazardous. Failure to heed evacuation orders may result in loss of life.
Major flooding from heavy rainfall is expected, with additional amounts of 3-6 inches. Emergency plans should include the potential for evacuations and rescues. Heed any flood watches and warnings. The NWS also indicates a potential for a few tornadoes. If a tornado warning is issued, be ready to shelter quickly.
