Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Franklin County; Act Now!
A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Inland Franklin County until 7:15 PM EDT today, issued by NWS Tallahassee FL, bringing threats of hazardous winds, major flooding rain, and potential tornadoes; residents must complete all preparations immediately.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Franklin County by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL, effective today, October 8, 2026, at 11:06 AM EDT. This warning remains in effect until 7:15 PM EDT tonight. Residents are advised to complete all preparations immediately.
Strong winds are expected, with peak forecasts of 10-15 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. However, there is potential for winds reaching 39 to 57 mph. Damage to porches, awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and potential power outages. Act now to secure property and avoid hazardous conditions.
A Flood Watch is also in effect. Additional rainfall of 3-6 inches, with locally higher amounts, is anticipated, posing a threat of major flooding. Evacuations and rescues are likely. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to do so could result in serious injury or loss of life. Rivers and small streams may overflow, and floodwaters could enter structures. Driving conditions will become dangerous with potential road closures.
Furthermore, conditions are favorable for several tornadoes, some potentially intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter before hazardous weather arrives. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be prepared to shelter quickly. Scattered tornadoes could cause significant damage, power loss, and communications failures.
There is little to no threat of storm surge flooding. For more information, visit NWS Tallahassee, Florida Division of Emergency Management, or Franklin County Emergency Management.
