Extreme Storm Surge Warning for Coastal Franklin
Coastal Franklin is under an Extreme Storm Surge Warning, with residents urged to shelter immediately due to life-threatening storm surge, potential major flooding, and active tornado watch through Saturday morning.
Coastal Franklin residents are urged to remain sheltered immediately due to an Extreme Storm Surge Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL on October 9 at 10:57 PM EDT. This warning affects Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, and Alligator Point and is in effect through Saturday morning, October 10.
Life-threatening storm surge of 3-5 feet above ground is possible in surge-prone areas. All flood preparations and ordered evacuations should be complete, and evacuees should be in safe shelters well away from potential flooding. Do not venture outside.
In addition to the storm surge, a Flood Watch is in effect, with potential for major flooding from an additional 1-3 inches of rain. A Tornado Watch is also active, indicating conditions favorable for several tornadoes. Residents should stay within their shelters and remain informed of the latest tornado situation, moving quickly to the safest place if a tornado warning is issued.
