Tropical Storm Warning Issued for Inland Franklin; Act Now!
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Inland Franklin County, effective immediately, with hazardous winds, major flooding, and several tornadoes expected. Residents must act now to protect property and ensure safety.
INLAND FRANKLIN COUNTY — The National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for Inland Franklin County, effective immediately as of October 8 at 5:22 PM EDT. This warning remains in effect until October 9 at 1:30 AM UTC.
Residents should immediately finalize preparations as hazardous winds are expected. Peak winds of 10-20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are forecast, with potential for sustained winds of 39 to 57 mph. Limited damage to light structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages are possible. Protect property now.
A Flood Watch is also in effect, with an additional 4-8 inches of rain, and locally higher amounts, expected. Major rainfall flooding is likely, potentially causing evacuations and rescues. Rivers and small streams could overflow, leading to widespread flooding of structures and impassable roads. Heed all flood watches and warnings; failure to act could result in serious injury or loss of life.
Furthermore, the NWS indicates a high potential for several tornadoes, some possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelters immediately. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly. Scattered tornadoes can cause significant damage, power loss, and communications failures. No storm surge inundation is forecast.
