A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for Coastal Franklin, effective immediately as of October 8 at 11:06 AM EDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) Tallahassee FL. This severe alert impacts Apalachicola, Eastpoint, Carrabelle, and Alligator Point. Residents must complete all preparations before hazardous conditions arrive.
Strong winds of 25-35 mph with gusts up to 45 mph are expected, with potential for winds reaching 39 to 57 mph. Damage to awnings, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes is possible, along with downed tree limbs and scattered power outages.
Life-threatening storm surge of 4-6 feet above ground is possible from Friday morning until Saturday morning. Evacuation efforts and flood preparations should be completed now. Leave immediately if evacuation orders are given to avoid being cut off from emergency services.
A Flood Watch is in effect, with an additional 3-6 inches of rain expected, leading to potential major flooding. This could prompt evacuations and rescues, and make roads impassable. Heed all flood watches and warnings.
The situation is also favorable for several tornadoes, with a few possibly intense. Those in manufactured homes or on boats should relocate to safe shelter. Listen for tornado watches and warnings and be ready to shelter quickly.
