Dachshund Dash Races to Fort Lauderdale's Jaco Pastorius Park

Fort Lauderdale dachshund owners can register their short-legged companions for the Dachshund Dash, a unique racing event set for Saturday, Oct. 3, at Jaco Pastorius Park. The first heat begins at 5 p.m.

The community event features six heats with up to eight dogs each competing on a 30-yard course. Registration is online only and closes Friday, Sept. 25, at 5 p.m. A maximum of 48 dogs can participate. Entry is free.

Purebred dachshunds are eligible. Owners must provide proof of up-to-date vaccinations, including rabies. Required information includes the dog's name, age, weight and breed, along with the owner's name, phone number and email address. An emergency contact and phone number are also necessary.

Participants must agree to the Waiver & Release of Liability, an online checkbox. Awards will be presented to winners after the final race.
